History
Mechanics is a part of Amedee Savard's ancestry.
His great, great grandfather established Garage Montplasir (right) in 1914 Quebec. It's still in operation today and is Canada's oldest GM dealership.
SERVICES
Oil Change
Choose from both synthetic and conventional motor oils. OEM or aftermarket oil filter. Oil & Filter not included.
Brake Service
Brake service is essential to safety and overall vehicle performance. Get your brakes inspected and replaced to make sure you get to your destination safely. If you notice any of the following you may need your brakes replaced
- High-pitched squeaking when you brake
- Scraping or grinding sound when driving
- Sharking or vibrating when braking
- Brake pedal takes more pressure to press
(This service is for pad and rotor replacement. Your vehicles calipers may also need replacement)
Check Engine Light
Having a check engine light come on can be an unsettling experience. A check engine light may represent something very serious or something as little as a loose gas cap. Bring your car into Garage Savard for a complete diagnostic check.
Driveline Maint/Repair/NVH
Your driveline is a major system that keeps you moving forward. Keeping the working parts of your driveline lubricated and maintained will save you in the long run. Come in for a driveline inspection if you notice: Turning issues particularly when making tight turns, U-turns, or auto parking A low squeaking sound that worsens with deceleration Vibrations that increase with rate and vibrations that take place when the automobile is moving or idling
Tire Replacement/ Repair + Balance
Running your vehicle with old, dry rotted and/or structurally compromised tires can cause severe drivability issues resulting in a crash. Keeping your tires in check is always a good idea. Below are some problems that may indicate tire replacement or repair
- Splitting or protruding treads or sidewalls that might imply there is wear or weak point
- Foreign objects that penetrate in to the tire (nails, screws, glass)
- Tread tearing away from the body of the tire
Battery Replacement
Battery not included. Replacement comes with a 12-month guarantee.
Tune Up
A tune up is generally recommended every 30,000 miles. A tune up may be required if your vehicle is experiencing:
- Poor fuel mileage
- Slower efficiency
- Engine sounds appear: knocks or pings
- Minor electrical issues
- Ventilation concerns
Tire Rotation
Get your tires rotated every other oil change to avoid uneven tire wear which will ultimately shorten the life of your tires
(rotations are front to back unless otherwise requested)
Belt & Hose Replacement
Belts may wear and break over time. A belt that becomes worn may slip or become so slack that it may not function correctly. Hoses may glaze and split after long years of use or when exposed to harsh temperatures. A cooling system pressure test will be performed to help check for cracks.
Worn belts...
- Loss of power
- Squealing or grinding sound
- If you feel vibrations, 'slips' or 'catching'
Damaged hoses...
- Holes and splits
- Hardening, splitting and softening of hoses
- Loose or worn clamp
Fluid inspection
Fluids such as engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze and power steering fluid are very important to inspect on a regular basis
Tune Ups Consist of:
- Replacing the air filter
- Switching out the gas filters
- Putting in new spark plugs and replacing any type of worn ignition system cables
- Checking the distributor cap and replacing if needed
- Inspecting the blades for fractures, burning or carbon build up and replacing if needed
- Checking the valve-cover gasket and adjusting the valves Inspection and topping off all fluids
- Switching out Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve, if plugged
Filters replacement
We will inspect and replace the engine air filter and/or cabin air filter on your vehicle to ensure it's operating at maximum efficiency
Exhaust System Repair
A damaged exhaust system will hamper vehicle operation and fuel mileage. Ensuring your exhaust system is flowing properly will help restore MPG's and performance. Get your exhaust checked if you notice...
- Loud thumps, bangs or rumbles
- Signs of rust
- A vibration or shaking of your muffler when idling
- If your muffler is positioned lower than normal
Suspension Repair
Having a solid suspension system is key in having control over your vehicle. Signs of Suspension Issues Include:
- Car pulls to one side
- Trouble steering
- Steering seems to be slipping
- Issues when driving over uneven roads
- Car bounces excessively after going over bumps
